The chick retina, from Portraits of the Mind: Visualizing the Brain from Antiquity to the 21st Century, images compiled and annotated by Carl Schoonover. Schoonover is a graduate student at Columbia who reminds me with this that I spent the weekend (rather glamorously) doing nothing at all, despite a surfeit of resources and ideas.
