Fight or court?
Sometimes, it is delectably simple: fruit flies with mutations to the fru gene have shifts or inversions in their sexual orientation. Disrupting fru function in specific neurons causes changes to specific behaviors: a female may fight like a male; a male may court other males.
Here, a single fru neuron from FlyCircuit, one of the many connectomics projects springing up.
